MORTGAGE BROKERS

The term Mortgage Brokers is a colloquialism for a qualified Mortgage Intermediary or Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) who acts on the borrower's behalf rather than in the Lender's interests. Mortgage Broking has been regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) since November 2004.

From 2008 to 2011 the FSA intends to see every Mortgage Broker to assess compliance with mortgage regulation. Through its Enhanced Small Firms Strategy it will suggest ways compliance could be improved and ask for remedial action to take place if non compliance is found.
