STEPHEN ATKINS

Stephen has always worked in mortgage and general insurance and with industry trade bodies, AMI, AFB and the FSA Smaller Business Practitioners Panel. He was CEO of ScotLife Home Loans, one of the first mortgage clubs, and later became a member of the CML committee who set up the Mortgage Code. This prepared him for statutory regulation as Group Compliance Director at Freedom Finance, a pan-European operation. He has participated in FSA, OFT and FOS consultation groups and speaks at compliance and risk conferences in the UK and EU. He has contributed to several books, the press and has acted as an expert mortgage witness. He has also advised firms on mortgage and general insurance compliance systems and controls including the last CCA amendments and mortgage complaint and redress issues.
